Custom-made Ceramic
and Glass Components

Fused Quartz

Fused quartz glass is an extremely versatile high-temperature material used in a range of different applications. It has outstanding thermal properties, excellent optical transmission characteristics, good electrical properties and corrosion resistance.

Fused quartz is a lower purity and more cost-effective material than fused silica, but does not achieve good transmission in the UV range. It is readily available in a number of forms including tubes, rods, windows and crucibles. It can also be worked in a similar manner to glass to form more complex shape to produce labware components, for example.

Characteristics of fused quartz include:

  • Outstanding thermal properties
  • Excellent optical transmission characteristics
  • Good electrical properties
  • Good corrosion resistance
